Meet Sharon

Sharon Deacon

Hello, my name is Sharon, allow me to tell you a little about myself.

I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and came to live in the UK in a life-changing move in 2000.

My ability to listen, and care, combined with life experiences, compelled me to become a qualified, professional Counsellor. I fully understand that life can feel challenging, and that our mental health and wellbeing affect our ability to cope.

I have had a few different roles before becoming a counsellor: Chef, mother, and Community Fundraiser. They have all given me a wealth of life experience and have enriched my natural ability to empathise and show compassion.

Friends and family describe me as compassionate, loyal, giving and generous. Being a counsellor is a natural fit for me, and I am privileged to be able to support you on your journey to better mental health.

As your therapist, I am here to listen, and support you, in a safe space, without prejudice or judgement. After initial assessment, I use a variety of techniques, talking and listening, to guide you to an understanding of the challenges you face and to reach a place of greater strength and resilience, for a fulfilling future.

My main areas of focus include:

Depression    Grief and loss    Anxiety    Social anxiety    Low mood    Feeling sad
Family issues    Trauma    Relationship issues    Work-related stress    Stress
Self-harm    Suicidal thoughts    Long term illness    Life limiting illness     Eating disorders

“ I started working with Sharon back in 2020 having realised I was struggling with my recent diagnosis of MS. Sharon has and continues to counsel me, providing a much needed and appreciated reality check as we explore key issues I am struggling with. She helps me to rationalise the irrational and also supports me by introducing strategies for coping and reality checking. I would have absolutely no hesitation to recommend Sharon as a counsellor! ” – RB
